Profile: Dr Caroline Leaf
By Martin Allen
Dr Caroline Leaf is a renowned neuroscientist and communication pathologist that has pioneered research into the area of cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology. (brain science) Ever since the beginning of her career in the 1980’s she has researched the connection between the mind-brain connection, formation of memory and the nature of mental health. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change (neuroplasticity) with directed mind input. She is the author of several bestselling books: Switch on Your Brain, Think Learn Succeed and Eat Yourself Smart. She has taught at many medical and neuroscientific conferences, churches, academic establishments and to many other audiences.
But what is it about her work and research that can help normal, regular students to improve their studies? The answer lies in her research on maximising your brains potential to solve and think in a clear manner. In her blog post on how to learn faster, memorise anything and upgrade your brain published on May 17th, 2020, she says, “many of us incorrectly assume that intelligence is something we are either born with or are not, that it is a “fixed” thing, which is why some people do well and some fail.” Dr Leaf has found that most normal human brains have repetitive thought patterns that can be debilitating to us, and hse has also found a way to comba them.
She then begins to expand and detail her research referencing another professional’s work to explain the problems that hold us back from truly using our brain in the best way possible.
Mrs Leaf has shown through her work and her lessons the type fo woman that she is, aside from inspirational and a brilliant scientist.
Dr Leaf is a hard-working, driven, and passionate woman, who is extremely well-versed in her area of study and is more than willing to share her work and progress to any and all to whom it may be of use. For students specifically, her work continues to help students have hope and to find a way to tackle the stress loads of schoolwork, as well as how to maintain their mental health in a positive way. Not only does her work help alleviate stress, but it also helps students, whether in primary, high school or university to truly utilise and get the best out of their brain, and prove that they are intelligent, hard-working and potential-filled people.
